According to the Student Work Regulation existing in the UK –
International students can engage in part-time or vacation jobs and requires no prior permission from the local job center.
 Likewise, work placement and internships done as part of the course curriculum can be undertaken with no prior approval from Work Permits (UK)

However, there are subject to certain conditions, as to the hours and type / nature of work students can take up:

  •  Any student engaged in part-time jobs shall not put in over 20 hours a week; the same need not apply in case of work placements or internships done as a part of course
  •  Any part-time job taken shall not be of the nature of business, self-employment or professional sportsman or entertainer. Also, students are not entitled to fill in a vacancy, open for a permanent or temporary terms.
